Frequently Asked Questions for the Michigan Cottey Scholarship
The Michigan Cottey College Scholarship was first awarded in 1945. It was in the amount of $300, which was made available by gifts of $5 from each of the sixty Michigan P.E.O chapters. The first scholarship was awarded to Helen Parsons, a P.E.O. daughter from East Lansing. Today, Michigan P.E.O. chapters continue to support worthy students with a scholarship award and grants.
One Michigan Cottey College Scholarship is awarded annually to a Michigan resident who has been accepted for admission to Cottey College and has been recommended by a member of her high school faculty on the basis of academic achievement, character, personality and purpose.
Donations from Michigan P.E.O. chapters also fund annual grants for qualified Michigan residents who are first or second-year students at Cottey College and who have made application for assistance.
Applications for the Michigan Cottey College Scholarship and grants must be submitted before March 1. The scholarship and grants will be awarded before April 15, for the following academic year.
