EVERY SISTER IS A VIP – VERY IMPORTANT P.E.O.
A Initiative to Keep Sisters Active in P.E.O.
Every sister is important to our chapters, and
it is so important – and so easy! – to support them in remaining an active member. Please, reach out to our sisters who have not attended many meetings recently. Let them know how appreciated and loved they are. After all, we are a sisterhood and every sister is a VIP! 🌟
The P.E.O. Executive office is offering support in the form of tips, suggestions, templates, and changes to standing rules to ease some of the situations that lead sisters to feel that they must go inactive.
Here are some of the tools available
What to Say to a Sister Considering Inactive Status
This one-page tip sheet gives specific language to use whenever a sister finds herself in conversation with another who may be considering inactive status and is an excellent resource for every member of the chapter.
How to Care for a Nonparticipating Member
Working together with the membership committee chairman, your treasurer can use this worksheet to identify vulnerable members of the chapter and develop a plan for keeping them engaged.
Standing Rule Language
This language allows for local chapters to advance dues for members who are experiencing financial difficulties or other extenuating circumstances. If your chapter does not already have this standing rule in place, please consider proposing it to your members.
Notice of Dues
This template is a convenient resource for mailing to nonresident, nonparticipating
or snowbird sisters.
In January, an Every Sister Is a VIP flyer will be included in the Corresponding Secretary Annual Report mailing, asking the local corresponding secretary to read the names of inactive members to their chapter. It also reminds chapter treasurers that they have the option to read the names of those whose dues are not paid for the coming year, and that chapters have the option to pay the state and International dues for those members who have not paid by March 1.
